Military Options
Students interested in exploring military service as a postsecondary option are encouraged to speak with their school counselor, meet with military recruiters during scheduled school visits, and review information from the official branches of the United States Armed Forces. Military pathways may include active duty service, reserve or National Guard opportunities, ROTC programs, service academies, career training, and college tuition assistance. Students considering this option should take time to learn about eligibility requirements, career fields, training expectations, benefits, and the enlistment process. Students may also choose to take the ASVAB, which can help identify career strengths and possible military career pathways. Selective Service Almost all male U.S. citizens and male immigrants ages 18 through 25 are required to register with the Selective Service System.
