School counselors support students academically, socially, emotionally, and with planning for life after high school. They work with students, families, teachers, and staff to help students set goals, navigate challenges, access resources, and make informed decisions.

Counseling services may include:
  • Individual and small group counseling
  • Crisis intervention and support
  • Conflict resolution
  • Consultation and collaboration with families, teachers, and staff
  • Referrals to school and community resources
  • Student advocacy and support
  • College, career, and postsecondary planning
  • Support with academic progress, scheduling, and goal setting

​School counselors also advocate for students by helping identify barriers to learning and working with the school community to create a supportive environment for all students.
