Student registration for the 2021-2022 academic year at North Smithfield High School is now underway. The high school has established three CTE programs and numerous student pathways. We believe that these pathways and programs will help better prepare our students for the future. Information on these pathways and CTE programs may be found on the high school website and the district curriculum website. Students will be asked to register for a CTE program or NSHS pathway as a part of the scheduling process for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The course registration process is designed to give each student the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process with regard to his/her four-year academic program. During the process, students are encouraged to engage in conversation with parents, school counselors, teachers, and department chairs with the goal of designing a robust course of study that fits the individual student’s needs and desires.
NSHS policies and procedures for course registration have their own pages here, detailing graduation requirements, promotion requirements, course change policy, advanced studies policy, GPA/Rank, and Credit Recovery. Students can also access information on NSHS Pathways, course catalog, course distribution chart, departmental flowcharts, Senior English electives, Prepare RI, VHS, Advanced Course Network, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
NSHS will be holding a parents night for course registration via Zoom in the near future to explain and review the course registration process. Every NSHS student will have the opportunity to meet individually with a school counselor to discuss teacher recommendations, electives, pathways, and future plans soon thereafter.
